Excitement is building as national teams prepare for Euro 2024: Portugal vs. Sweden friendly preview

After the international break, soccer fans around the world are looking forward to friendly matches between national teams as they prepare for important matches in international tournaments.

he Portuguese national team will face Sweden as part of a series of friendlies in preparation for Euro 2024, which begins in June with a tough match against the Czech Republic. Despite losing to Morocco and being knocked out of the World Cup, Portugal have won all their matches under coach Roberto Martinez, scoring 36 goals and conceding just two. Portugal are the only team to qualify for Euro 2024 with 10 wins from 10 matches. However, they have dropped to seventh in the FIFA world rankings. Portugal have five friendlies (against Sweden, Slovenia, Finland, Croatia and Ireland) to prepare for their first match against the Czech Republic at UEFA Euro 2024 on June 18. The legend Cristiano Ronaldo will be absent from this match as his coach is giving him a break while he is on vacation with his family in Saudi Arabia.

On the other hand, this will be coach John Dal Thomason's first match with Sweden. Despite not taking part in the Euros, Sweden still have a long way to go to prepare for the upcoming UEFA Nations League as they failed to qualify, finishing 9 points behind Austria and Belgium in their qualifying group. This is the first time in almost 30 years that Sweden will not be playing in the Euros.
